In 1980, he joined The Nishinippon Shimbun, and in 1987, he worked for the Tokyo branch of The Nishinippon Shimbun before establishing Newsline Network K.K. in 1995. In April 2016, he became the second person in the world to be awarded the Commandeur d'Or by the Canton of Vaud Wine Institute of Switzerland.

He has also been deeply involved in policy formation, serving as a member of the Government Tax Commission and Chairman of the Specialist Subcommittee of the Council on Foreign Investment in Japan.
